Wireless data shoots up 40 per cent YoY

Looks like its good times for wireless data revenue makers, considering there has been an increase of 10 per cent in wireless data revenues in 2008, as compared to just two years ago, as per trade group CTIA. U.S. carrier service revenue from wireless data, or non-voice services, reached $14.8 billion in the first half of the year, up 40 percent from the first half of 2007, according to the results of CTIA’s semi-annual wireless survey presented during the CTIA Wireless conference in San Francisco this week. CTIA Wireless: World’s first Dual-mode WiMax networking adapter coming to the U.S.

Networking specialist C-Motech introduced the world’s first dual mode WiMax/EVDO USB dongle during the CTIA Wireless in San Francisco this week. The so-called CMU-300 fully supports the IEEE 802.16e-2005 WiMax standard as well as EVDO Rev A or HSDPA wireless networks. Read more
