Multitool-and-cam-in-one: Looks like a Swiss knife, shoots like a camera…

November 21, 2008

Combination camera and multitool Europen Noel Pemberton Billing spent two years of his life to make this device which is a combination of a multitool and a camera.  Lord Billing, a British inventor and aviator, must be so creative to think about this thing. I have no idea what it’s called but apparently, it is currently sold for a hefty $2,000 for the original 30 pounds sterling price.

iPhone 3G to get a second backlight?

November 21, 2008

Apple iPhone Backlight Rumor has it that Apple is currently developing an always-on backlight for the iPhone . The new method is said to allow the famous touchscreen phone to display the icons even when the screen is off.

Earlier this week, Apple published a patent with information on the new display technology. The new backlight will of course be placed just behind the main backlight, projecting through the layers.

We have no idea when Apple will officially introduce the technolgy but I’m hoping that the iPhone 3G’s battery life improve soon. Check on the battery first before adding the new tech. Get it, Apple?

Oh Mr. Obama, what gadgets do you fancy now?

November 21, 2008

Gadget White HouseThe US Election is over and Obama made history by being the first black president to be elected. I think that he will also make another history by being the most techie ruler. Why, he’s got a BlackBerry but will soon ditch it as reported. Rumor has it that he wants a laptop on his desk too. I’m sure, a phone and a laptop won’t be the only gadgets we’d see inside the Oval Office.

When asked by Associate Press to give suggestions for the White House, designer Lisa LaPorta of HGTV’s Designed to Sell sees the ‘library as more of an Internet cafe-lounge with state-of-the-art computer, television and surround-sound capabilities as well as a place for books’.

It’s just one of the many suggestions but I’m curious as to how Mr. President will want his Oval Office to look like and what gadgets can we see inside? PSP? iPod? XBOX? Somebody tell me!

Google iPhone App can’t hear them British right

November 21, 2008

Google iPhone voice-recognitionThe new voice activated search by Google for the iPhone may not be exactly Brits may find useful because of their accents that vary. have no way of checking because for one, I don’t have an iPhone(yet) and second, I’m not British.

But Telegraph recently told of their experience while testing out the app. The word “iPhone” was mistaken for the name “Einstein” while the website “MySpace” was heard as “my sister” for both Kent and Surrey accents.

These are just some funny examples but there are more. Brits, I suggest you try this one on your iPhones and get a kick out of it.

Visa Europe intros credit card with keypad

November 18, 2008

Visa Card Features KeypadThere may be credit crunch in some parts of the world but Visa Europe recently introduced a more hi-tech credit card that comes with a digital number display and a keypad.

The credit card looks exactly like a regular card with its size and the magnetic strip but this one has no numbers except on the keypad. The user only needs to enter his PIN to generate a number that will serve as the security code to be used for purchases.

This credit card is a nice idea to fight theft but I think Visa needs more time to test such.
