Apple iPhone gets some macro lens treatment, ummm…not quiet really

November 21, 2008

iPhone Macro CameraApple iPhone users know that the infamous phone can’t take photos in macro mode. But you know, geeks are geeks and nothing can’t stop them from providing a solution.

Take for example the macroPhone, an improvised macro lens using an old SLR 50mm lens. No, the modder didn’t install the lens inside the iPhone for it’s impossible. He simply tied the old lens to the iPhone and tried taking photos. The result? Clearer close up photos using the iPhone. The only downside is the set up looks silly.

Google iPhone App can’t hear them British right

November 21, 2008

Google iPhone voice-recognitionThe new voice activated search by Google for the iPhone may not be exactly Brits may find useful because of their accents that vary. have no way of checking because for one, I don’t have an iPhone(yet) and second, I’m not British.

But Telegraph recently told of their experience while testing out the app. The word “iPhone” was mistaken for the name “Einstein” while the website “MySpace” was heard as “my sister” for both Kent and Surrey accents.

These are just some funny examples but there are more. Brits, I suggest you try this one on your iPhones and get a kick out of it.

November 20, 2008

iCEphone by momentimediaTouchscreen phones are in nowadays but there’s still the QWERTY keyboards that either slide or attach. But the iCEphone is very much different. Why, it’s a three-fold mobile phone that looks weird but could actually work for some people.

Fantalog Interactive’s is a blow-on-it camera phone, nice but not really important

November 20, 2008

Blow-Controlled Phone Camera by momentimediaThis device from Fantalog Interactive isn’t your ordinary camera phone. For one, the design looks weird you’d think it’s something from the future or from the Jetsons movie. Instead of pressing a button to take a photo, the user only needs to blow on it. Not exactly a new idea since there’s the iPhone with the Ocarina flute app. Read more

Toshiba G459: It’s a modem-slash-mobile-phone

November 19, 2008

Toshiba G450 by momentimediaToshiba earlier rolled out their new G459, a new mobile phone that could very well work as a modem. According to Wired, ‘it’s a 3G modem first then a mobile phone second’.

This may not be something you’d choose over an iPhone or a BlackBerry to perform serious cellphone duties but the modem  feature makes it a good choice especially if you’re looking for something to use with your laptop for mobile Internet use.

Only available in Europe, the TOshiba G459 uses HSDPA connectivity. The $205 may not exactly be worth it since it only has 160 MB of storage so using this as an audio player can be disappointing but still, it’s a good portable modem.

Asus shows off P565 smartphone with the fastest processor

November 19, 2008

Asus P565Asus recently launched a new smartphone that is said to have the fastest processor.  However, Asus isn’t claiming that their new P565 is the fastest in the world today.

This new smartphone from Asus comes equipped with a 2.8″ VGA screen, 256 MB of flash memory, 800MHz Marvell processor, 480 x 640 pixel resolution, SiRFStar GPS chip , 3 MP camera, and 128 MB of DDR SDRAM.

So if this has the fastest processor, how come it still isn’t the fastest in the world? Well, the phone uses Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and HSDPA 3G connection speed of 3.6Mb/s. , making the Asus P565 slower than other smartphones.

Numberkey iPhone App: Numpad for the MacBook

November 19, 2008

NumberkeyLaptops don’t have number pads so business people or maybe just those working with numbers find it difficult to use notebook PCs for work. They find that real keyboards are more efficient to use. But good thing there’s a new iPhone app that could make keying in numbers easier: the Numberkey.

The Numberkey is a wireless numberpad on the iPhone for the Mac. This app can be used via WiFi on Mac computers and MacBooks only(sorry PC users). You don’t have to buy a separate USB number pad if you have an iPhone and get the $1.99 app instead.

Panasonic intros pocket charger for the iPhone

November 18, 2008

Panasonic iPhone charger by momentimediaPanasonic may not be Apple’s best friend but with their iPhone charger, I think Apple fans may see the  beauty of the former. The Panasonic Pocket Power phone charger is a good accessory to the iPhone since it could give extra juice to your beloved phone once it runs out of battery and when you are stranded in the wilderness or the desert.

This charger still needs double A batteries but connecting it to the iPhone will transfer the energy to juice up the handset.

The $36.45 can also give extra power to the iPod Touch and other portable gadgets.

Logic3 i-Station: iPod Touch and iPhone now have their own docking station

November 14, 2008

Logic3 i-Station by momentimediaLogic3 i-Station is another iPod dock I’m adding to our long list of docking stations. It is said to be unique but seriously, it looks nothing out of this world. In fact, it looks too plain that I can’t believe this can actually hold the iPod Touch and the iPhone. Read more
