Apple rolls out next generation MacBooks

October 14, 2008

We’ve seen the MacBook Pro already but Steve Jobs isn’t done yet. We didn’t see this one coming. You know, of a new generation of MacBook coming. The secret is now out and our beloved MBs get a refresh too.

From the image alone, I can see it’s neat and looks better. Why, display is now corner to corner glass while body is now aluminum unibody enclosure  similar to the new MacBook Pro. Other features include 13.3-inch LED backlit display, 160 GB HD, slot-loading superdrive, new graphics, and a multitouch trackpad.

The Mini Display Port connector and environmental features we mentioned earlier are also included.

Graphics performance of the new MacBook is five times better than before with the NVIDIA 9400M chipset. Battery life is said to go as long as five hours.

Here are other info on the new MacBook:

  • Arsenic-free
  • BFR-free
  • MERCURY-FREE
  • PVF-Free system
  • Highly recyclable
  • 42% smaller packaging

So how much will the new MacBook cost? Price starts at $1,299.

Steve Jobs noted that the new MacBook will start shipping today on top of the $999 white MacBook.
