Go-Sim: Stay connected while Globetrotting

November 29, 2007

If you’re a constant globetrotter, what’s your biggest worry, apart from picking all those language CDs and books? The means to stay connected right? With the humungous prices that your local carrier would charge to put you on roaming, you’re better off buying something wherever you land and then using it right? Then of course, you know that’s not always easy in a country that doesn’t speak a lot of English. So basically, you land up at the gorgeous country and you love everything about it, but your sweating angry when you try getting a card to use on your phone to reach your loved ones. Looks like that won’t be a problem again, if you use Go-Sim, an International pre-pay card that you purchase before you leave and then top it up just like any other prepaid card. At $58, it’s not too steep for all the worry it will save you, and it in any case comes with a $10 prepay for your first shot at over-use. This one’s usable only with open GSM handsets and looks like there’s not much happiness for iPhone users when it comes to this one. Who said they had all the privileges eh? Calls from this card are apparently 90 per cent cheaper, and well incoming is free too in most countries where incoming is not usually charged. Talk about the consumerist countries getting a lashing.
